FAQs

How are utilities services provided?
Red Frog provides electricity by 2 sources.  1. Over 600 solar panels 2. Three large diesel powered generators.

Can I build my own solar system?
When designing the resort, it was determined that it is best for servicing and environmental reasons to offer centralized systems rather than independent systems on each unit. Centralizing these systems allows us to provide the shared services for the entire community and quiet consistent service.

It is our goal to expand the solar power to make Red Frog Beach Resort even more sustainable. Our leadership team is working to expand the solar within the next 24 months as part of the new expansion and improvements.  We are also working on a solution to gain access to the main grid on Isla Colon. Both of these options will bring additional savings to our owners. In order to protect the views of the neighbors and protect the wildlife we do not allow individual solar systems on our units.

How much does electricity cost?
As part of our continued commitment to the environment we offer an environmental efficiency program that is similar to a lease program. Owners are provided high efficiency individual room split Air Conditioners, Hot  Water Heaters and Pool Pumps.  Participants in this program are rewarded for being kind to the local environment with a discounted rate of .41 per kilowatt hour on electricity.  While this is higher than what we all may be used to in the north America most of our owners find it to be worth it for consistent service.  We don’t have power outages like Isla Colon.   Meters are read each month to ensure you only pay for what you use and encourage conservation.

What about water?
Our state of the art water system delivers drinking water from the tap to all of our units.  The cost forwater is currently .24cents per cubic foot.

And Trash?
We provide trash service 4 days per week.  Trash is collected from our villas, jungle lodges and condos directly. Our team works to sort out recycling and then holds the trash until we can fill an entire barge to move it to the mainland to be responsibly disposed of in a proper landfill. Cost is based on water consumption 45% of water cost.

And Sewer?
No need to worry about a backing up septic tank. Red Frog’s infrastructure is much like the city or town you might be familiar with at home. Our septic system need some help here. Cleaning and filtering and mangroves and etc. Sewer fee is also based on water consumption at 65% or water cost.

Do you provide management services?
We offer rental services to our owners thru an exclusive rental agreement.  60% of the revenues are paid to owners while the resort is paid 40%.  An owner referral program exists that gives a 10% premium for referrals or friends, family and others who want to stay in your place.   There are no restrictions on owner self-usage or for friends and family.  Housekeeping charges will apply post your personal visit to ready the unit for your next guest.
